December Update on Magic Pages

In the last month, Magic Pages has grown significantly – both in terms of new customers, but also in terms of product developments.

Let's start by introducing a new page on the Magic Pages website – Roadmap & Changelog:

Roadmap & Changelog - Magic Pages
Our roadmap maps out ongoing enhancements and new feature developments for the Magic Pages CMS hosting service. Stay updated by subscribing to our monthly newsletter.

The goal behind this page is very simple: I wanted to have a place where we can see all the changes implemented in Magic Pages. To show that it's alive, to be transparent about what's happening, and to have discussions about upcoming features.

All posts you find in the "Roadmap" section of the page have Ghost comments enabled. This allows all of you to share your thoughts and ideas about features and plans I put there – for example, about Monthly and Yearly Plans In Addition To Our Lifetime Offer.

So, let me tell you about a few other highlights from this new Changelog.

✨ New Help Center

In addition to the new Roadmap & Changelog, I have put together a new Help Center. One central place where you can find guides and answers to the most frequently asked questions about Magic Pages.

This is, by no means, a replacement for customer support via email and chat – but rather an additional channel to help you solve questions even quicker.

🎨 Magic Pages Themes Directly in Ghost

Around a month ago, I had a random idea: what if – instead of downloading zip-files from the customer portal – you could install the Magic Pages exclusive themes directly from Ghost? Similarly to the official Ghost themes?

Well, turns out, the implementation wasn't difficult at all – and it takes away a lot of manual work for all Magic Pages customers, who wish to use these themes.

💬 New Customer Support Infrastructure

Until around a week ago, Magic Pages only had a live chat in the customer portal. It was powered by a third-party service and not integrated with email support, since that was powered through a simple email inbox.

I have now integrated a new customer support infrastructure powered by a self-hosted open source solution called Chatwoot. No matter whether you send an email or a chat message now, everything is combined in a single interface, allowing for better continuity.

🔄 Automatic Ghost Update Deployment

Ghost updates are now deployed to all of your websites even faster! Previously, I had to manually go through every Ghost instance and update it. This worked perfectly, when the number of customers on Magic Pages was still fairly small.

Now that we're growing, it sometimes took quite some time to update all websites. So, an automated solution was needed. The last 3 Ghost versions were already deployed with it – and it cut down the time between an official Ghost release to the deployment to your websites to around an hour. I dare say, that's probably a record that no other third-party Ghost hosting provider can beat 😉

👻 What has happened on Ghost's side?

Before I leave you to the rest of your weekend, let's quickly have a look at what the Ghost team has implemented in the last month:

  • ✨ You can now filter members in the Ghost admin by their email addresses.
  • ✨ Members can now unsubscribe from your newsletter with one click.
  • ✨ There is now an emoji autocomplete in the Ghost editor. Look – I can add emojis: 🎉🎈😮🥳
  • 🎨 The Source theme has been updated.
  • 🐛 Lots of bug fixes.

So, that's it for now. If you want to see all the changes that happened at Magic Pages in the last month, have a look at the new Roadmap & Changelog. You'll find lots of small things there as well, if you're interested.
