Magic Pages now includes Pintura, a powerful image editor, in all Pro plans at no additional cost. This makes Magic Pages the only managed Ghost hosting provider besides Ghost(Pro) to include this premium feature..
What is Pintura?
Pintura is a professional-grade image editor that integrates directly into the Ghost editor, offering a seamless editing experience without leaving your workflow. It includes features like:
- Crop, rotate, and flip images
- Adjust brightness, contrast, and saturation
- Apply filters and effects
- Add text overlays
- Resize images
- And much more
Here is a quick demo:
The Pintura image editor is now automatically enabled for all new trials (given that new trials are essentially the Pro plan), and all existing websites using thei Pro plan (both subscription and lifetime plans). If you upgrade a trial to the Starter plan, Pintura is not available anymore.
While self-hosted Ghost users typically need to purchase a separate Pintura license ($29/domain for one year of updates), Magic Pages Pro users get this premium feature included at no extra cost.
Why I decided to include Pintura
Let me be completely honest here - Pintura wasn't high on my priority list. In fact, only three users have asked about it since Magic Pages launched. My main focus has always been on making Magic Pages a rock-solid Ghost hosting platform that matches (and in some ways exceeds) the state-of-the-art offer on the market.
But here's the thing: when Ghost integrated Pintura, I saw how it could eliminate one of those small but annoying interruptions in the writing process. You know, when you have to stop writing, download an image, open another app, make your edits, save, upload... it breaks your flow. And while it's not a massive problem, it's exactly the kind of friction I want to eliminate from Magic Pages.
I have had a conversation with Pintura's developer earlier in 2024, and at that point, the cost was too restrictive. However, Magic Pages has grown significantly in the last months and the cost to integrate Pintura make sense now.
This growth allows me to keep investing in improvements that make your publishing experience smoother, even if they're not the most requested features. Sometimes it's these small quality-of-life improvements that make the biggest difference in day-to-day use.
For those of you who've been asking about Pintura - thank you for your patience. And for everyone else - I hope you'll find it useful when you need it 😊
